Computable GPU Index

The first open-source price index
for GPU compute.

Computable GPU Index (CGI) is a USD price per GPU-hour, computed from the published on-demand rental rates of a fixed panel of providers. The methodology is mathematically robust, and anyone can verify and reproduce every print.

PUBLISHED RATES IN. ONE NUMBER OUT.

The problem

What is the price of a GPU?
Nobody agrees.

Every provider quotes a different number, and existing indexes are closed black boxes: a figure you are asked to trust without seeing the data, the method, or the code behind it. Despite being rented, resold, and financed at commodity scale, compute lacks the reference rate every mature commodity market has.

How it works

The same pipeline, step by step.

The index is an interquantile mean over votes.

01COLLECT

Every 15 minutes we collect published on-demand rental rates.

02SCREEN

On-demand rates only, from a fixed panel of providers.

03VOTE

Each panel provider casts weighted votes at its price, and the index averages the central band of those votes.

04ONE NUMBER

Votes in the outer thirds have no direct effect on the value, so no small group of providers can drag the index from the tails.

Open by design

Open data, open method, open code.

Verifiable

Every data point is sourced, timestamped, and kept.

Reproducible

Every published value can be recomputed from the public record.

Fault-tolerant

A source can break or vanish; the number stands.

Outlier-resistant

A source can lie or glitch; the number stands.

Transparent

No black box: the method and every parameter are published.
